In this course, practical hands-on components are combined with a variety of training materials such as: mannequins for practicing CPR, AED trainers, bandages, splinting materials, barrier devices, first aid kits, auto-injector trainers, inhalers etc. All Canadian Red Cross programs meet the latest International guidelines and follow strict quality control guidelines and procedures for content development, update and delivery.

This course provides comprehensive First Aid & CPR techniques. A variety of topics are covered from basic first aid such as cardiovascular and breathing emergencies, CPR Level A, prevention of disease transmission to more severe sudden medical conditions and injuries to the head and spine.

This course provides simple First Aid & CPR techniques. The course covers skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for adults, CPR Level A, and other topics such as choking, airway and breathing emergencies and prevention of disease transmission.

This course is designed to provide various levels of CPR training based on participant’s background, needs and interest. A presentation on how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (and certification) is also provided with the course where local legislation permits. Levels A, B, C and HCP available depending on the skills needed.

Structure Level A: any individual, Level B: childcare professionals, Level C: professional rescuers*, Level
HCP: healthcare providers

Duration Level A: 4 hours, Level B: 5 hours, Level C: 6 hours, Level HCP: 6 hours

BABYSITTERS - $60

This course is designed for youth 11 years and up who want to become a babysitter or may already be one. The Babysitting Course covers the responsibilities of a babysitter, safety tips for children of all ages, basic child care skills and what to do in case of an emergency.

For many young adolescents, babysitting is their first job, and the Red Cross can help them become real "pros"! They learn valuable tips for managing their business, as well as:

• Important child care skills
• Safety tips for children of all ages
• How to cope with common problems, like tantrums and crying
• What to do if anything makes the babysitter uncomfortable
• Some great games and other ideas for having fun with the kids while babysitting
• How to make the children's environment safe and enjoyable
• What are the respective rights and responsibilities of the babysitter and the family hiring one

What to do in case of an emergency?

Emergencies sometimes do happen, even to the best babysitters. The Babysitting Course teaches youth how to handle emergencies with confidence by providing the basic first aid skills for such common problems as:
• Choking
• Sprains and Strains
• Bleeding
• Poisoning
• Burns
• Fire emergency
• And more!

The newly revised Babysitting Course is updated for today's youth.

PeopleSavers (Level 1 to 4) - $20-$80

This Is a 4-level program developed by the Canadian Red Cross to teach safety awareness and first aid skills to elementary school-aged children.

What do PeopleSavers Learn?

The PeopleSavers program offers continuous and consistent reinforcement of injury prevention and emergency action throughout the childhood years.

Each level contains five sections:

Canadian Red Cross

The participants learn about the Red Cross Services: First Aid Services, Water Safety Services, Emergency Services, and International Services.

I am a PeopleSaver

The participants learn that everyone can be a PeopleSaver and that a PeopleSaver knows how to "Prepare! Stay Safe! and Survive!"

Check for Safety

The participants learn how to evaluate their surroundings and what constitutes a safe environment both at home and in the community.

Call for Help

The participants learn when, who and how to call for help in an emergency.

Care for a Person

The participants learn to care for and comfort an injured person in many situations:
• cuts, scrapes, and bleeding
• unconsciousness
• comfort
• poisoning
• burns
• rescue breathing
• choking
• broken bones

Who is PeopleSavers for?

The suggested ages and length of course for each level of the program are:

Level 1: Ages 5-6 (1 hour) - $20
Level 2: Ages 6-8 (2 hours) - $40
Level 3: Ages 8-10 (3 hours) - $60
Level 4: Ages 10-12 (4 hours) - $80

The program is flexible to suit a variety of settings and groups. Although each level reinforces the skills learned at an earlier level, the participant can join the PeopleSavers program at any level.

This course provides an overview of First Aid & CPR techniques taught in an interactive environment for individuals such as parents, teachers, volunteers, caregivers, grandparents who care for infants or children in the workplace or at home. Covers skills needed to recognize, prevent and respond to cardiovascular emergencies, CPR Level B, and other topics including choking, airway and breathing emergencies and prevention of disease transmission.
