This two day Traffic Control Person Course (14 hours) is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary in order to gain employment as a Traffic Control Person in BC.

This course is provided over a 2 day period in the following format:

  • Day 1 covers WorkSafeBC Regs, Ministry of Transportation as comprehensive instructions in procedures, equipment, work zone layouts and practical skills and the Motor Vehicle Act.
  • Day 2 emphasizes the hands on training portion and provides applicants with the opportunity to practice and be evaluated on the skills learned in class.

Upon successful completion of the course you will be issued the following:
The Safety Network will issue you an official Traffic Control Person Certificate which is valid for 3 years. (4-8 weeks)

Also on Day 2 a temporary Traffic Control Person Certificate will be issued to enable participants to obtain employment right away as a certified TCP.

All Classroom Traffic Control Person course sessions are held at our training facility located just off the Mary hill ByPass in Port Coquitlam.

The Traffic Control Refresher Course reviews the knowledge and skills that Traffic Control People (TCP) use according to the worksafe BC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Ministry of Transportation (MOT) standards and other regulatory requirements.

Emergency Scene Traffic Control Person Course $95

(All prices are in Canadian funds)

Emergency services' workers are often called upon to control traffic around the site of an emergency or accident. Where the traffic control situation will persist for longer than 2 hours, and it is necessary to direct traffic through sections of a two-way road temporarily reduced to one lane, it is expected that the emergency services' worker directing traffic would be trained in the manner of the high-risk TCP.
This course includes the following topics:
• Traffic control equipment
• Equipment set up and take down
• Principles of traffic management outlined in the traffic control manual
• Use of a buffer vehicle to protect the workplace
• Other appropriate safe work procedures
• Instruction on personal protective clothing and safety equipment
Training includes in-class coursework as well as a practical component, such as practice sessions in a controlled environment, and on-the-job training, where appropriate.
